Ridley Scott is a big fan of Russell Crowe, so much so, that for his next flick, he's apparently giving the Aussie actor not one but two roles.
On the promotional trail for their latest collaboration, the political thriller Body Of Lies, Scott has let slip that his long-gestating revisionist take on the Robin Hood legend, Nottingham, will feature Crowe in a dual role as the legendary robber-of-the-rich-and-giver-to-the-poor and his sheriff nemesis.
Speaking to MTV's Movie Blog, Ridley Scott said: "He's playing both. [Crowe's dual roles would be] "a good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes."
In terms of what that actually means, we've yet to discover. It could imply Scott intends to remake Fight Club in a forest, but we reckon the idea is that the Sheriff of Nottingham created the persona of Robin Hood to tackle those evil-doers who live outside the law (kinda like The Dark Knight for medieval times).
If the latter's the case, Scott has potentially come up with a storyline to invigorate the oft-told legend. And with his old mucker Crowe doing the double, we could be in for quite a treat with this one.
