Rupert Wyatt Finds Night Film

Though he’s had plenty of opportunities since Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, Rupert Wyatt has mostly been focusing on getting the long-gestating adaptation of **Birdsong up and running again. Yet he’s still adding other projects to his To Do list including a new one, crime thriller Night Film.

The noir is in its infancy right now, with Chernin Entertainment buying up the rights to Marisha Pessl’s still-to-be-published novel and starting to sort out such necessary elements as a writer and a distribution studio.

Pessl’s book follows investigative journalist Scott McGrath, who begins looking into the death of a beautiful young woman. Though her demise was initially ruled a suicide, the truth is much deeper and darker and as McGrath investigates her family, including horror director Stanislas Cordova, he finds that revenge is at the heart of the case.

Wyatt is also attached a mystery project called Agent 13, but has eschewed other possible movies in favour of Birdsong. There's no word yet where Night Film will fall on his schedule, but we'll keep an eye on it.
