For all that the Bridgerton family estate seemed like a crowded house given the eight kids of varying ages, one key element was missing in Season 1 of Bridgerton: Edmund. The family's late patriarch will be seen in flashbacks in Season 2, and Rupert Evans is the man to play him.

With the cameras rolling on the second season in London, the story this time will adapt book 2 in Julia Quinn's period romance series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, which focuses on Anthony Bridgerton's (Jonathan Bailey) quest for love and marriage.

Edmund was a keen guiding light in Anthony's life when he was younger, and his tragic death at at 38 from an allergic reaction following a bee sting had a huge impact on his son – especially since Anthony had to take over the viscounty at age 18.

Evans joins fellow new recruits Simone Ashley, Charithra Chandran, Rupert Young, Shelley Conn and Calam Lynch.
