Matt Damon may no longer be making it his directorial debut (boo!) but that hasn’t stopped drama Promised Land from moving along smoothly. With Damon and John Krasinski starring, the film has now locked in its female lead, with Rosemarie DeWitt putting ink to paper.

Damon pal Gus Van Sant is calling the shots for the film, which Damon and Krasinski wrote together after adapting a Dave Eggers first draft called** Gold Mist**.

As for the plot? Well, that sees Damon play a sales executive who arrives in a small town and has his whole life called into question. Krasinski will be a rival executive, but Deadline could find no details on who DeWitt might be playing. Oh, and Frances McDormand is also listed as part of the cast, though her role is equally mysterious for now.

We’d expect more details to start filtering out soon, since Van Sant is looking to have the cameras rolling next month.

DeWitt will next be seen in Neighborhood Watch, which arrives here on August 24, and The Odd Life Of Timothy Green, which should be out on August 15.
