After waiting 10 years for the cinematic sequel to Zombieland. it's encouraging to learn that production officially kicked off today. And joining original cast members Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin is Rosario Dawson.
Ruben Fleischer is back to marshal the madness, dreamt up by original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The film finds our band of heroic zombie slayers dealing with new kinds of undead folk that have evolved since the original film and some new human survivors.
We're assuming Dawson is in the latter community, since it doesn't make much sense to hire her and then just have her snarling and zombified. She joins fellow franchise newcomers Zoey Deutch and Avan Jogia, and we also now know that the film will be called Zombieland 2: Double Tap (a riff on the second rule of surviving the apocalyptic world our heroes find themselves living in), thanks to the first image of the original cast as they look now, snuck out by Sony as part of the #10YearChallenge...
Zombieland: Double Tap will be out on 11 October. Dawson will show up in Netflix rom-com Someone Great and has also signed on to lead US crime anthology series Briarpatch, created by Mr. Robot's Sam Esmail.
