Justin Simien is busy building his cast for the new movie version of Disney's Haunted Mansion. With Owen Wilson announced just yesterday, Rosario Dawson is the latest addition.
LaKeith Stanfield and Tiffany Haddish are starring in the remake, which follows a family that moves into the titular mansion. Stanfield would be a widower who once believed in the supernatural but is now a rather lifeless tour guide in New Orleans’s French Quarter. Haddish would play a psychic hired to commune with the dead.
The Mouse House is clearly looking to build on the relative success of Jungle Cruise (itself spawning development of a sequel) and hoping that this one works more successfully than the Eddie Murphy-starring film of 2003.
Katie Dippold wrote the script for the new movie, and Simien will start the cameras cranking next month in Atlanta.
