Stories of people who showed great bravery in their jobs are always being picked up for movies. Rosamund Pike will star in the latest example of that, agreeing to star in the untitled film that will follow the career of war reporter Marie Colvin.
Arash Amel has written the script, which adapts Marie Brenner's 2012 Vanity Fair article Marie Colvin's Private War. It'll chronicle the work of Colvin, who filed reports from conflict zones including Chechnya, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, where she lost her left eye in 2001. She became known for her distinctive patch, and kept working, dying during a rocket attack in 2012 while covering the civil war in Syria.
Matthew Heineman, who last made the Oscar-nominated documentary Cartel Land, is in the director's chair, and the film will kick off production this October in the UK and the Middle East.
Pike, last seen in A United Kingdom, has World War II drama The Man With The Iron Heart (once known as HHhH) and Hostiles due this year.
