Nabbed by Netflix after it was already in the can, moody sci-fi drama The Discovery is on its way to us thanks to the streaming service. The teaser trailer has arrived, and prefers to go the weird route rather than specify the plot and feels like a lost Black Mirror entry...
The film, co-written by The One I Love duo Charlie McDowell and Justin Lader and directed once again by McDowell, is set in a world where the existence of the afterlife has been scientifically proven. Jason Segel is Will, the son of Thomas Harbor (Robert Redford) who made the astonishing discovery in the first place, and he falls in love with Rooney Mara's Isla, a woman whose past is tinged with tragedy.
A year after the big announcement is made, people everywhere are offing themselves to reach what they figure will be eternal bliss, though the answer might not be quite that simple. And how do you go about living in a world where so many others are intent on dying?
With Riley Keough and Jesse Plemons also in the cast, The Discovery hits Netflix on 31 March.
