Jacob Tremblay has not been idle since his astonishing breakout performance in Room. He's worked with Naomi Watts on both Colin Trevorrow's The Book Of Henry and the thriller Shut In; and with Vera Farmiga on Burn Your Maps. Now he's being lined up to co-star with Julia Roberts in Wonder, adapted from the novel by R.J. Palacio.
The book centers on the ten-year-old Auggie Pullman: an ordinary boy in every respect other his severe facial deformity. Home educated for his entire life to date, he's now dealing with the frightening prospect of starting at a real school and having to convince the other kids that he's just like them on the inside...
Roberts is in talks to play Auggie's mother, although neither she or Tremblay are officially signed on at this stage. Todd Lieberman and David Hobermann are the producers, via their Mandeville Films.
Paul King is the director and Steve Conrad wrote the screenplay. Pre-production is currently underway, with no release dates set so far.
Palacio's novel and its follow-ups are published in the UK by Corgi.
