Ultimate Fighting Championship regular Ronda Rousey seems poised to follow in the fist mark and boot steps of fellow fighter Gina Carano, and not just because she’s worked on a Fast & Furious film. Warner Bros. has her lined up for action pic** The Athena Project** and a role in the Entourage film.
**The Athena Project **appears set to showcase Rousey's fighting abilities, as it follows a top secret, all-female Delta Force team that carries the titular code name. They’re sent to hunt a master terrorist after a bombing in Rome, but once in the middle of the mission, they discover that there’s much more at play than was originally thought. It’s early days for the project right now: Warners is only now locking in the deal for Brad Thor’s novel, and it still has to find a writer to work on the script.
That means that Rousey can focus on other things: namely, defending her UFC bantamweight title in Las Vegas later this month before moving on to join Adrien Grenier, Jeremy Piven and the rest of the gang in creator Doug Ellin’s **Entourage **film. She’ll shoot her undisclosed role in March.
With **Fast & Furious 7 **delayed until 2015, we’ll get our first proper glimpse of Rousey’s performance in The Expendables 3, which arrives on August 15.
