Shooting has been underway for about a month on alien invasion saga The Fifth Wave, which finds Chloë Grace Moretz trying to survive in the face of devastating extra terrestrial attacks. Ron Livingston is the latest cast member to sign on to the young adult adaptation{
Moretz is starring as Cassie Sullivan, a young woman who survives the four waves of deadly extra-terrestrial attacks against the Earth’s population that have left our planet a darkened, doomed place where its new conquerors roam in near-human form, picking off survivors.
Cassie, who still hopes to rescue her younger brother, prefers to travel alone, figuring she’ll be safer that way. But then she meets Evan Walker (Alex Roe), a mysterious young man who could be her big hope.
Livingston is set to play Moretz’ father, Oliver, an important part of her life, and the one who tries to protect her from the various alien attacks. We have a horrible feeling he doesn’t make it too far.
Susannah Grant adapted the script from Rick Yancey’s bestselling novel, and The Disappearance Of Alice Creed’s J Blakeson is in the director’s chair. Nick Robinson and Liev Schreiber are also among the cast for the film, which is set to land here on January 29.
