Ron Howard Creates Legends

It's not even quite out yet, but the buzz around Nick Percival's graphic novel **Legends: the Enchanted is such that Hollywood has already beaten a path through the dark forest and is huffing and puffing at his door.

You can see why too, since Legends ticks a lot of very modish boxes. Comic book? Tick. Classic kids story / traditional fairytale like Oz,** **Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Maleficent and The Girl in the Red Riding Hood? Check. Dark fantasy for the Twi-hards? Yup. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies-style genre mash-up? Oh yes.

Legends is a Grimm murder mystery in a noirish steampunk setting, beginning with the death of Pinocchio. Wolf-hunter Red Hood and giant-killer Jack are on the case, with help from mercenary femme-fatale Goldilocks and "psychic exterminators" Hansel and Gretal.

Truly, 'tis the Avengers of the fairytale world (or Shrek for grown-ups). With practically every character involved also headed for their own solo outing in the near-ish future, it's very handy that none of them are in copyright.

No word yet on a writer, director, or studio, but Ron Howard is involved via his Imagine Entertainment. He'll produce along with Brian Grazer and Radical Comics' Barry Levine. Post your thoughts below, while we get to work on our screenplay about Baba Yaga and Robin Hood joining the Musketeers. In 3D. With zombies. Obviously.
