With his parachuted-in work on Solo: A Star Wars story now wrapped up ahead of him promoting it in Cannes, Ron Howard can turn his attention to other directing gigs. And his producing partner Brian Grazer has lined up another possibility for him in the shape of The Warehouse.

Grazer leapfrogged over other bidders in war to secure the rights to Rob Hart's novel, which won't be published until next year. It's set in a near-future America ravaged by political strife and climate change. There, an online retail giant named Cloud promises to be a global saviour, but is hiding a dark secret, one we assume is more serious than them raising their prices.

Under the envelope of this mega-corp, two of its employees – one in security, the other a spy – meet and fall for each other, but their relationship is threatened by the dangerous nature of the espionage officer's work. With Grazer handling the production side, the next job will be to assign a writer.

Howard is, as ever, juggling a list of maybe movies, but will definitely be heard narrating the next season of Arrested Development. Solo is headed our way on 24 May.
