Ron Cephas Jones has been working solidly since the 1990s, but has hit a wider audience in recent years thanks to his roles on TV series This Is Us and Mr. Robot. He's now in talks to join the cast of Warner Bros. and New Line's DCEU entry Shazam!
The film – it appears they're keeping the exclamation mark in the title – focuses on teenager Billy Batson (Asher Angel), who can become the hero (played by Zachary Levi) by saying the word, “Shazam!” which grants him the powers of six mythological gods. Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg is making the movie, which is scheduled to be the next DCEU entry to see cameras.
If he takes the role, Jones will play The Wizard, who bestows Billy with his powers. He'd be joining a cast that also includes Mark Strong as villain Doctor Sivana, plus Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Cooper Andrews and Faithe Herman. WB is targeting a 5 April, 2019 release date.
