When he makes his last stand in, er, Last Stand, Arnold Schwarzenegger won’t have to stand alone. Nope, 300**’s Rodrigo Santoro has been recruited to join his team and Thor**'s Jaimie Alexander will also be fighting at his side.
Schwarzenegger, who has finally committed to the film as his big return to action movies, is playing a small-town sheriff nearing the end of his career who must stop a dangerous fugitive cartel leader and his gang from reaching the Mexican border. All our hero has to rely on are his wits and a largely inexperienced staff. And also, presumably, the fact that he's built like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Santoro – whose casting was first dug up last week by the team at Latino Review – is on as Frank Martinez, the party loving, laid back type who enjoys hunting, fishing and flirting with fellow cop Sarah Torrance (Alexander).
The script, which was originally written by Andrew Knauer, has since been through the hands of Jeffrey Nachmanoff and The Adjustment Bureau’s George Nolfi. South Korean director Kim Jee-Woon is set to start the cameras cranking on October 20 in New Mexico.
