For Western action drama Jane Got A Gun, producer/star Natalie Portman and director Lynne Ramsey are certainly going after some top tier male actors to fill out the cast. The latest target in their sights is 300’s Rodrigo Santoro.
Working from Brian Duffield’s script, Portman will play Jane Hammond, whose outlaw husband is betrayed by his own gang. With hubby badly hurt and the criminals riding in to finish the job, she reaches out to the one man she thinks can help. That would be former lover Dan Frost (Michael Fassbender), a crack shot but a conflicted choice.
Joel Edgerton is also aboard to play John Bishop, the sneaky new leader of the gang who is out to make sure Portman’s other half suffers even more lead poisoning. Santoro, according to Deadline, will be a character named Fitchum. We’re not sure how he fits into the plot, but he could be one of the gang.
Ramsey is set to start shooting (along with everyone else, we’d imagine) in April in New Mexico. Santoro, who most recently appeared in T****he Last Stand, will be back in his Xerxes getup for 300: Rise Of An Empire, which marches on to UK screens on August 2 this year.
