Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has taken to social media, his favourite form of communicating, to talk a little about his next project: a new take on cult '90s adventure film Jumanji.
Johnson has just wrapped on Fast & Furious 8, during a filming process slightly dogged by an on-set beef between Johnson and an unnamed co-star (rumoured to be Vin Diesel) whom The Rock accused of being a “candy-ass”.
There was no mention of candy-asses in his latest Instagram missive: only graciously thanking his co-stars and crew. But he did explain that Jumanji, which begins production in two weeks, would be a “continuation of of the awesome JUMANJI story”, rather than a reboot.
So it’s unlikely that there will be any recasting of Robin Williams’ character from the 1996 original film, which told the story of a magical board game which came to life. Johnson is being joined in the film by Kevin Hart and Jack Black; The Rock joked at “how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we're together."
Jake Kasden is directing the new film, which is currently working towards a 28 July 2017 release date.
