The Rundown may not have set the world on fire but that's no reason to write off The Rock just yet. Still doing his level best to make it as the next big action hero, his Rockness will once again lay the smackdown on screen with Walking Tall. He of the rippling muscles, taut man-breasts and arching eyebrow brings law to the lawless as a returning war vet who sets out to remove the criminal element that has sprung up in his home town. It would be foolish (and patently untrue) to claim that Walking Tall is anything but entertaining pap and an excuse for the pro wrestler to dish out some righteous beatings, but it does look like rather embarrassingly good fun. Besides, a film about a man who sets out to right perceived wrongs and impose his own morals on others by force alone: escapist action yarn or canny satire on American foreign policy?
