Closer stars Julia Roberts and Clive Owen will reunite for Duplicity, a drama to be directed by Tony Gilroy (Michael Clayton).
The movie sounds like a slightly more grown up and less gun-heavy version of Mr and Mrs Smith, with Roberts and Owen playing corporate spies who work on opposite sides, but unite to stage an elaborate con and rip off corporations by stealing a valuable McGuffin. The film will start production in March from a script written by Gilroy, who also wrote the three Bourne films.
It's nice to see Roberts signing up for something a little offbeat after a few years out of the limelight with only occasional jaunts into animation work (we know she's in Charlie Wilson's War and she looks fun there). Closer was her best and most interesting performance in years, so hopefully we can see a repeat of the chemistry that burned with Owen there.
