Looking to keep exploiting its deal with Hasbro, Paramount threw a G.I. Joe spin-off film focused on ninja warrior Snake Eyes into development back in May of this year. It has found a potential director, as RED filmmaker Robert Schwentke's in early talks to tackle it.

With a current script by Evan Spiliotopoulos (The Huntsman: Winter's War), the film will explore more about the silent ninja commando who never reveals his face. That could be an issue unless they find excuses for him to do so, but he’s got quite the backstory, with family tragedy, sibling rivalry and strenuous training, plus excellent Ninjutsu skills and a look that screams Make More Toys. Oh, and his history with the Joes includes lots of potential stories.

Schwentke, who also worked on films such as Insurgent and the flop-tastic RIPD, last made praised thriller The Captain.
