Robert Rodriguez enjoys splitting his time between his more intense movies and films aimed more at the family audience, such as the Spy Kids series and The Adventures Of Sharkboy And Lava Girl 3D. He's revisiting the latter for his new all-ages adventure, We Can Be Heroes, which has some first look images online.

Set in the same universe as Sharkboy, the new film posits the idea of a group called the Heroics (led by Priyanka Chopra-Jonas as its director), which includes Pedro Pascal and Boyd Holbrook. But when the adults are kidnapped by scheming aliens, their kids, including Missy, played by YaYa Gosselin must step up to save them and the world at large.
The young hero, who has not yet discovered, will have help from her peers, while the likes of Christian Slater, Haley Reinhart and Christopher McDonald also appear.
We Can Be Heroes will hit Netflix on 1 January, which should come as small relief to the parents who need to keep their kids entertained as the festive season winds down.
