Though he's still deep in the long post-production process for Alita: Battle Angel (he'll have more time on that one, since the film's release just got pushed back to December), Robert Rodriguez is keeping one eye on potential next films. He's busy developing a a thriller called Hypnotic.

Rodriguez has Kong: Skull Island writer Max Borenstein on board to re-write the script, which the director himself originated. While all involved are keeping the details close to their chests, The Hollywood Reporter has learned that the film is a grounded cop thriller with sci-fi elements. So make of that what you will, while also hoping it's not another Bright.

It's a different script from a lot of Borenstein's recent work, where he's become something of a giant monster specialist between working on Godzilla and the upcoming Godzilla: King Of Monsters. As we mentioned above, Alita: Battle Angel will be out in the UK on 26 December.
