Just when you thought filming was getting back on track for The Batman, another shutdown has hit in the wake of someone on the production testing positive for the coronavirus. And, according to Vanity Fair's sources, that someone is star Robert Pattinson.
Warner Bros. did not name the person at the centre of this latest pause in filming, releasing only a brief official statement, "A member of The Batman production has tested positive for Covid-19, and is isolating in accordance with established protocols. Filming is temporarily paused." Out best wishes, naturally for Pattinson to see low-level symptoms and recover quickly.
Director Matt Reeves had restarted the cameras on the film, which shut down in March when the pandemic quarantine restrictions first hit, just a few days ago. The Batman finds Pattinson's Bruce Wayne in the second year of his costumed vigilante efforts, still figuring out how to solve the crime and corruption in Gotham City and encountering characters such as The Riddler, The Penguin and Catwoman.
A well-received teaser that Reeves debuted virtually at DC FanDome had raised excitement levels for the movie, which is scheduled for an October, 2021 release, but may have to shift if this latest shooting delay persists. If only the Caped Crusader had had Bat-Sanitizer on his utility belt.
