Since re-invigorating his career with his role as Tony Stark in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. has been taking on different duties, including setting up a production company – Team Downey – with wife Susan. Now he's planning to direct one of his new projects, TV drama Singularity.
It's all part of a new deal between Team Downey and Sonar Entertainment, which will see the companies producing both scripted and unscripted shows for TV and digital channels.
Anthony Michael Hall (who co-starred with Downey back in 1988 in Johnny Be Good) is aboard to star in this one, with RDJ staying behind the camera to call the shots for the pilot. Nothing has been announced about the series yet, but given that title, we'd suspect some sort of sci-fi concept, including the idea of merging human consciousness with artificial intelligence. Either that, or they'll surprise us all and it'll be a romantic comedy about a forty-something man trying to date again...
In terms of his acting career, Downey Jr. will next be back as Tony Stark in Spider-Man: Homecoming, out on 7 July.
