Rodrigo Cortes’ cracking, claustrophobia-inducing, Ryan Reynolds-entombing thriller Buried is out now in our cinemas, but he’s already got his beady eye on a new project. And he’s stepping up the star-meter even further for this one, recruiting Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver to star in Red Lights.
Weaver is playing a psychologist who, along with her assistant, kicks off a research job investigating strange phenomena. Their work leads them to a world-famous psychic (De Niro).
Cortes wrote the script and is planning to kick off shooting next February in Spain, before moving on to Canada. “**Red Lights **follows the steps of Buried in allowing us to make a highly commercial, bold and compelling film with great production values and Hollywood stars but keeping the creative control from Spain," producer Adrian Guerra tells Variety.
Before it shoots, the producers will be off to the American Film Market in November to drum up some extra cash to get it made. With those big names attached, we doubt they’ll have much trouble, and we’re excited to see what Cortes does next.
