As hush-hush as any movie dedicated to next-level vehicular mayhem can possibly be, everything we know about Monster Trucks so far is casting-related. Now we know a little more about that with news, via Deadline, that Rob Lowe has joined Amy Ryan and Barry Pepper in the ensemble.

Technically, that’s not all we know. The movie, a combination of live-action and animation, is the handiwork of Ice Age-r and Blue Sky Studios’ Chris Wedge and has a script by Kung Fu Panda pair Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger. Plot details are largely under a giant truck's hood for now, but Ryan will apparently be playing a single mother trying to make ends meet while raising her teenage son.

Where the trucks fit into the story remains to be seen, but there will undoubtedly be much crushed metal and tangled exhausts by the end of it.

Lowe also has Sony’s red-band comedy Sex Tape upcoming and is starring alongside Burt Reynolds in Pocket Listing, a satirical thriller set around the US housing crash. He’s appearing in NBC comedy pilot The Pro, set at a golf and tennis club. According to The Hollywood Reporter{ =nofollow}, he'll play “a former doubles champion who is reunited with his ex-partner after a public feud that left them both floundering in life”.

**Monster Trucks **will be arriving in your nearest cinema foyer on May 29, 2015.
