These days he’s best know for playing overenthusiastic exerciseaholic city manager Chris Traeger on Parks & Recreation, White House deputy communications director Sam Seaborn or his stint in fake plastic surgery for Behind The Candelabra. But there was a time when Rob Lowe was more notorious, with the former Brat Packer scoring infamy as one of the participants in a controversial sex tape back in the late 1980s. Which makes it all the weirder that he’s signed on to play a role in Jake Kasdan’s film **Sex Tape.

Lowe won’t be participating in any on-screen carnality this time: that falls to Jason Segel and Cameron Diaz, who play a married couple looking to spice up their love life by making a naughty tape.

Naturally, when they awaken the next morning the recording is gone and so begins a mad dash to get it back. They discover to their horror that a mysterious, highly-strung toy company boss (Lowe) has it, and rope in their pal Rob Corddry to help steal it from him.

Jack Black is set to take a small role in the film, with Giselle Eisenberg, Harrison Holzer and Sebastian Hedges Thomas also aboard. The comedy is shooting now and is set for release in the UK on August 1 next year.
