Rio Trailer Flies In

In between pumping out the another entry in the **Ice Age **franchise, the team from Blue Sky Studios are also hard at work on feathered friend comedy Rio, which features the voices of Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg and George Lopez, among others. And now the first trailer has arrived, courtesy of Moviefone.

Zombieland's Eisenberg takes the lead as Blu, a rare macaw living in Minnesota who has been led to believe that he’s the last of his breed. But then he meets the headstrong, independent Jewel (Hathaway). He’s naturally smitten, but she’s having none of it… until they’re thrown together on a wild adventure to Rio and (you guessed it) slowly start to bond.

The trailer doesn’t really go for the plot approach, preferring instead to snip a chunk from the movie which finds Blu trying to master the art of flying with limited success and some enthusiastic coaching from Lopez’ toucan.

The film is set for release on April 8 next year, naturally in 3D, which should make the flying sequences look good. While we’re always glad to see (or in this case hear) Hathaway, who has done decent voice-over work before, we can’t say that this first peek at the film has us squawking to see more just yet. Go take a gander and let us know if you think it’s up to Blue Sky’s usual standards.
