Vin Diesel has started to make it something of a habit to post new concept art from the steadily developing third outing for his steely-eyed space hard nut Riddick. The latest chunk created by the new movie’s artists is below for your staring pleasure.
Posted as usual on Diesel’s Facebook page, the artwork is accompanied by one of the actor’s usual cheery, enthusiastic missives…
“Concept art and key frames allow a production to explore possibilities before actually committing to film. The road to the "R" rating, that so many of you were vocal about, has been a long one. The advantage however, (never empower the negatives) was that we were allowed a really extensive pre-production process. The artwork is so good, the artists have really outdone themselves in illustrating this world at its early stage.
When this film comes to the screen... know that you willed it into being!
Haha...
I got two meetings today that I have been prepping for... one with the director and another one with the head of the studio to discuss casting and the 2012 release date. Like always, I appreciate having your voice present in these meetings.”
The art has indeed all been impressive so far, and this latest, moody piece titled The Final Stand of Riddick definitely looks intriguing.
With David Twohy once more overseeing matters, the new Riddick film appears to be aiming at a 2012 release date, though unless it’s a truly stripped-down production this time, they might want to get a move on with shooting if they want to hit cinemas before the end of next year…
