Though the new, still-untitled **Muppet **movie already appears to be bursting at the seams with humans, more and more actors are jumping aboard, looking to score some time with Kermit and company. And you can go ahead and add Ricky Gervais and Emily Blunt to that ever-expanding list.
While The Hollywood Reporter wasn’t able to divine their roles from the closed-mouth producers, we’re at least hoping for Blunt to encounter Miss Piggy.
While Gervais would seem to be a no-brainer, Blunt’s casting is actually even less of a shock; co-writers Nick Stoller and Jason Segel (who also stars) have been fans of hers for a while, and tried to grab her for Get Him to the Greek until Fox used its contract option to put her in Gulliver’s Travels instead. But after starring with Segel in that film, (and, according to sources we can’t name at this juncture, having a right old laugh making the thing), she’s happy to drop by the Muppet set and spend some more time with him.
Segel, of course, is the man charged with gathering the fuzzy friends so they can put on a show to save an old studio from mean developer/oil baron Chris Cooper. Rashida Jones and Amy Adams both have meaty roles, while Zach Galifianakis, Alan Arkin, Jack Black, Billy Crystal and Jean-Claude Van Damme have either already shot, or are turning up for, cameos.
Flight of the Conchords director James Bobin's busy shooting it, and we want to see it. Right now, please.
