The jury may still be out on whether Tom Cruise will make an adequate Jack Reacher in One Sho****t, but writer/director Christopher McQuarrie certainly seems committed to providing him with a decent supporting cast. Case in point? He’s hired Richard Jenkins for the film.
One Shot, adapted from Lee Child’s novel finds former military type-turned-drifter/vigilante hard case Reacher digging into the thorny case of a sniper accused of murdering five innocent people.
While our hulking hero is initially convinced that the man is stone cold guilty, he soon discovers that all is not quite what it seems. With the suspect being roughed up in custody, Reacher applies his own personal brand of detective work to the mystery.
Jenkins will be playing the district attorney, a man also convinced that he has the right man for the crime and intent on prosecuting the alleged killer to the full extent of the law.
Rosamund Pike and David Oyelowo are already aboard to co-star and McQuarrie aims to start shooting next month.
Jenkins, meanwhile is on screen in Friends with Benefits and will show up next in **The Rum Diary **and The Cabin in the Woods.
