Richard Gere Lines Up Two Projects

Richard Gere has committed himself to two projects. The first he'll star in Mira Nair's Amelia, which tells the story of Amelia Earhart, the famed female aviator whose disappearance during flight remains a mystery. Hilary Swank is already onboard to play Amelia and Gere will play her husband, publisher George Putnam. Shooting on that film starts this month in Toronot, Nova Scotia and South Africa.

After that, he'll join Antoine Fuqua's next movie, Brooklyn's Finest. The film, which also stars Don Cheadle and Ethan Hawke, concerns three unconnected Brooklyn cops whose disparate careers lead them all to the same deadly location. One is working undercover to foil drug gangs; one is involved in corruption; and the other is by the book and facing retirement. We'd imagine Gere is taking on the latter, but that's unconfirmed.
