Richard Gere On For Arbitrage

Back last November, we brought word that Al Pacino had signed on to star in Arbitrage, a drama that finds a hedge fund manager getting into some trouble. Well, if that news had you excited to see the film, you might want to hold off on your hoo-rah just yet: looks like Pacino’s out. In his place? Richard Gere is close to a deal for the leading role.

The financially flavoured flick follows a big shot moneyman who is desperate to sell his trading empire and pull the eject cord from the business with his huge earnings intact. Trouble is, his gains have been mostly ill gotten and he’s really looking to ditch the place before anyone discovers the massive fraud he’s been perpetrating. And then he makes a careless – and violent – mistake that has even bigger ramifications.

Eva Green and Susan Sarandon are still aboard to co-star, while Nicholas Jarecki wrote the script and is directing the film, which will kick off shooting this April in New York.
