Looks like we were right to be slightly sceptical about Rhys Ifans possibly joining the cast of Bond 23, reports of which hit the ‘net on Monday. Talking to the Coming Soon team at Comic-Con today, Ifans denied he even was aware of the idea.
"I've just heard this today about, the new Bond," Ifans says in a video interview. "I don't know anything about that. I think Daniel Craig is the best Bond that ever was. He's unbelievable, he's fantastic, and if he wants me to kiss him again hard on the lips, I'm available. But I dunno. If the Bond people watch this interview, give me a f*****g job, man!"
That said, he was cagier when asked about it on the way of the Amazing Spider-Man press conference, and wasn’t quite as quick to dismiss it. So there may still be some germ of truth to the idea and Ifans could simply be trying to maintain the mystery. In reality, we really would like to see him sparring on screen with Craig again. The campaign for Ifans as Q needs to happen…
