The fourth, most recent, and initial Netflix-produced season of cult comedy series Arrested Development was, to be polite, divisive. Now creator Mitch Hurwitz has crafted a more traditional version, a remix, to arrive on the streaming service this Friday.
Taking to twitter to explain himself via the show's official account (you can see both of his message pages below), Hurwitz outlines his reasons for the Rashomon-style structure that split the various cast members up in to separate storylines, one that didn't exactly win a lot of praise from audiences. The new version, featuring some new jokes and a set of 22 interwoven stories was, according to Hurwitz, not fun to edit, but should be enjoyable to watch.
In other AD news, Hurwitz also announces that the fifth season of the show will hit Netflix soon. When? He doesn't say exactly, but everything he does say leads us to think it'll be sooner than we might expect. Could he be setting us up for a Cloverfield Paradox-like drop once the remix is up? There's still money in the banana stand, after all.
