Reese Witherspoon has been on a roll as a producer recently, enjoying particular success with book adaptions Gone Girl and Wild (in which she also starred to Oscar-nominated effect). She’s looking to keep that going, partnering with Lionsgate to bring Jessica Knoll’s novel The Luckiest Girl Alive to our screens.

Knoll’s debut book, which hits shelves next month, chronicles what happens when a 28-year-old New York woman’s perfect life is threatened by an old trauma from her past.

“Luckiest Girl Alive is the kind of book that grabs you and doesn’t let go,” Witherspoon tells Variety. “The hero of the book is a wily, intelligent, complex narrator. This character and the thrilling narrative that she drives are exactly the kind of story our company, Pacific Standard Films, wants to produce.” From the sounds of it, Witherspoon is staying behind the camera for this one, but will help in the search for someone to play the lead.

Acting (and producing)-wise, Witherspoon will next be seen in comedy **Hot Pursuit **alongside Sofia Vergara, which will hit our screens on July 31.
