A new theatrical trailer for upcoming comedy Soul Men has been posted online, and it's restricted - so look away kids!
Soul Men stars Bernie Mac and Samuel L Jackson as ageing singers, and one-time members of a 70s soul group. The pair haven’t spoken in years and are living in relative obscurity, but when their old band leader dies, they reunite for a one-off concert and embark on a cross-country road trip to perform the gig.
The trailer looks pretty amusing and with hope the film will serve as a poignant obituary to Mac, who tragically succumbed to a bout of pneumonia earlier this year. Sadly the film also marks a final turn for real life soul legend Isaac Hayes, famous amongst his many hits for the Theme from Shaft, and for playing Chef on South Park. Hayes died of a stroke in the summer.
Hopefully this doesn’t mean that Soul Men is in some way cursed and the rest of the cast will also be struck down in the upcoming months. Perhaps everybody should keep a close eye on Sam Jackson (although Empire is pretty sure he’s invincible, you can’t be too careful). Sean Hayes from Will & Grace, who also stars in the picture, is probably less of a concern…
