There's a slight shift happening for the cast of Zack Snyder's new sci-fi movie Rebel Moon: scheduling clashes mean Rupert Friend won't now be in the film. But Ed Skrein is on to replace him, while Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee and Rhian Rees are also all aboard.
Rebel Moon is set in a peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of the tyrannical Regent Balisarius. They subsequently dispatch a young woman (Sofia Boutella) with a mysterious past to seek out warriors from neighboring planets to help them make a stand.
Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Stuart Martin, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Michiel Huisman and Alfonso Herrera are all already in the cast.
Snyder is directing from the script he wrote with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, which was based on his and Johnstad’s story. The project itself was something Snyder was looking to pitch as a potential new Star Wars film before Disney bought Lucasfilm and made its own plans.
Netflix snapped this new movie up as part of its big deal with Snyder and producer Deborah Snyder. The cameras are already rolling, but there's no release date on the books yet.
