Rebecca Hall, last seen being romanced by Ben Affleck in Boston crime drama The Town, has entered talks to nab the lead role in novel adaptation **Shadow Dancer.
The film, which is being directed by Man on Wire’s James Marsh, has been adapted by Tom Bradby from his own novel, and recently found itself sitting on the most recent Brit List, which charts the best unproduced screenplays in the country.
If she signs, Hall will be playing a former IRA terrorist who has turned informer for MI5. But her loyalties are heavily divided: her family is deeply entrenched with the terrorist organisation and the security forces killed her husband.
But when she’s caught while helping with a botched bombing attempt in London, she’s threatened with never seeing her children again unless she spills details about her history with the organisation.
Shadow Dancer’s now in pre-production and would likely either wait for Hall to finish her upcoming stint at the National Theatre, where she’s starring in Twelfth Night from January, or aim to shoot around her schedule. Either way, she’s going to be busy for a while.
