Oren Moverman has gathered quite the cast for his new drama, with Richard Gere (who he just worked with), Rebecca Hall, Steve Coogan, Laura Linney and Chloe Sevigny all aboard The Dinner.
Moverman has adapted Harmon Koch's novel for the film, and is looking to roll the cameras soon. The Dinner finds Paul (Coogan) and Claire (Linney) Lohman headed for a dinner with Paul's politician brother Stan (Gere) and his wife (Hall). Simmering tensions are present even before the soup course, as Stan is a charming, ambitious man with his eye on a governorship and Paul festers a chip on his shoulder, especially since he's currently unemployed.
But there's more than potential bad fish and bad feelings to give people indigestion; as the evening winds on, dark secrets begin to emerge and it turns out that the Lohmans' children have done something terrible, with the couples divided on how to react. “Herman Koch’s The Dinner is an extraordinarily provocative, conscience-bending ride that takes on culturally relevant issues and turns them into an intricate menu of human passions and primal fears," says Moverman, whose latest film, the Gere-starring Time Out Of Mind, will arrive here on March 4.
