Director David Bruckner has brought us the chilling likes of The Ritual, and segments of anthologies such as V/H/S, but here he subjects Rebecca Hall to a creepy experience that has fetching architecture and mood to spare. See the first trailer for The Night House.

Here's the story, with the script by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski: reeling from the unexpected death of her husband, Beth (Hall) is left alone in the lakeside home he built for her. She tries as best she can to keep it together – but then nightmares come. Disturbing visions of a presence in the house calling to her, beckoning her with a ghostly allure. Against the advice of her friends, she begins digging into her husband’s belongings, yearning for answers. What she finds are secrets both strange and disturbing – a mystery she’s determined to unravel...

The film premiered at last year's Sundance Film Festival's Midnight Section and is now finally starting to head to screens. It's scheduled for the States on 16 July, but the UK is TBA for now.
