Fans of crap advertising rejoice for the best of the worst ads is making a triumphant comeback to our screens. The fantastically awful Ferrero Rocher advert featuring the European ambassador's party is to be remade (in English this time), with Onegin director Martha Fiennes at the helm. For anyone who somehow managed to miss it, the ad (originally shot for the East European market), portrayed a swanky bash at the ambassador's abode, suddenly disrupted by a fantastically doddery butler's entrance with an immaculately modelled pyramid of Ferrero Rocher. Guests flock to claim the confectionary treats amid (tragically dubbed in to English) 'oohs' and 'aahs' and are quickly demolished save one. As a glitzy woman takes her pick from the seemingly endless supply of chocolates, she turns to her host and in the most excruciatingly bad, voiced-over Euro accent, proclaims: 'Monsieur, wiz zese shocolates you are really spoileeng us." Attaining cult status for being so tragically bad, the ad went down in history before Ferrero Rocher pulled the plug in favour of less camp, more serious plugs for their range of pseudo-posh chocolates. They have now seen the error of their ways however and the Ambassador is scheduled to return minus the dodgy accents and, sadly, that iconic final line. A strapping young man will replace the arthritic butler and the host will now take the form of a dazzling woman. "Consumers love the great taste and sophistication of Ferrero Rocher," the marketing manager for the brand told The Guardian. "We have listened to their thoughts on our advertising campaigns and we are revitalising the ambassador's reception with our iconic Rocher Pyramid." Well, we're not so sure about the first part but we're sure the ad will be welcomed by nostalgia junkies everywhere - it'll never be a patch on the original though.
