Run, run, run! Time to run and hide... again! That's right, folks — five years after pulling off the most fucked up wedding night imaginable with 2019's horror-comedy-thriller Ready Or Not, it looks like the Radio Silence boys are getting set for some more fun and twisted parlour games in the RONCU (that's Ready Or Not Cinematic Universe, in case you hadn't heard!). Per THR's reporting, directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin are reuniting with star Samara Weaving for Ready Or Not 2. And if even the good word of The Hollywood Reporter isn't quite enough to convince you it's really happening, then check out the below Instagram post from Searchlight Pictures for extra visual confirmation:
The news of Ready Or Not getting a sequel was revealed ahead of a special Q&A screening of the first film last night at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, and comes hot on the heels of another hit for the Radio Silence collective earlier this year in the form of vampire horror-comedy flick Abigail. As for what shape Ready Or Not 2 may take, plot details are — as you'd imagine — being kept strictly secret for the time being. And given how the first film ended, with *SPOILER ALERT* our final girl Grace's (Weaving) in-laws spontaneously combusting after failing to make good on their ages-old family deal with the Devil, it's hard to even hazard a guess as to the direction the Radio Silence crew will take second time around. That'll be a conundrum for returning screenwriters Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy to figure out and take care of.
Word of a Ready Or Not follow-up has been doing the rounds for some time now, with Weaving herself fanning the flames in an interview with ComicBook.com last month. At the time, the Aussie actor said, in genre appropriate fashion, "I’m all in. I think we’re all in, I don’t know. I think we’re all in. I don’t know if we’ve had our blood handshake, but pretty much. We’ve done the spit handshake, but we haven’t cut each other’s hands and rubbed our blood together.” Take today's news then as confirmation that hand-cutting and blood-rubbing has duly been taken care of. Ready Or Not: Come Out, Come Out Wherever 2 Are, anyone? Anyone?! Fine...
