For all the recent talk of director James Wan taking on the MacGyver adaptation, it appears that his stab at action is still a ways off. Because he’s now locked in a deal to return for a sequel to his 2011 horror hit Insidious, and he’s bringing Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye and Ty Simpkins along for another scary ride with Insiduous Chapter 2.

In fact, the whole gang is back together, with Leigh Whannell writing the script and Jason Blum producing.

The original, which was produced for a thrifty $1.5 million and went on to make $97 million worldwide, found Wilson and Byrne as parents who think they have a haunted house but are horrified to discover that they actually have a haunted child (Simpkins), possessed by a dark spirit that dragged him to a weird realm called The Further.

No plot details have been released about the movie, but we’d expect the family to face more problems, especially since nothing was resolved at the end of the original… Now we get to see what happens next.

Wan is set to kick off shooting the movie on January 15 in LA. It has already been pencilled in for an August 30 release across the pond. If Momentum keeps to a similar release date as with the original, we’d expect to see it some time in September or, since it’ll be more appropriate for a scary tale, October.
