Hedging its bets by looking to release the company's latest animated adventure Raya And The Last Dragon both in cinemas and, like Mulan on Disney+'s one-off fee plus subscription Premier Access tier, Disney has now put out a new trailer for the movie.
Raya is set in the fantasy world of Kumandra, where humans and dragons lived together long ago in harmony. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, that same evil has returned and it’s up to a lone warrior, Raya (Kelly Marie Tran), to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. However, along her journey, she’ll learn that it’ll take more than a dragon to save the world — it’s going to take trust and teamwork as well.
Awkwafina, Gemma Chan, Benedict Wong, Daniel Dae Kim, Sandra Oh and, because he's the company's vocal good luck charm, Alan Tudyk are all in the cast, with Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada as the primary directors, while Paul Briggs and John Ripa are co-directors, working from a script by Qui Nguyen and Adele Lim.
Raya And The Last Dragon is out, as mentioned above, in whatever cinemas are open and on that Disney+ paid tier, on 5 March.
