“Oi, Noah! Afraid of a little water, are ya? You muppet!” are probably not words you associate with the Biblical tale. And, let’s face it, you’re unlikely to hear them in Darren Aronofsky’s epic take on the story, even though he has now offered Ray Winstone the role of Noah’s nemesis.
The cast for the director’s latest has been coming together quickly following Russell Crowe formally signing on to the title role. Logan Lerman and Douglas Booth will be his sons and Emma Watson is on to play a young woman who romances Booth. Still in play is the part of Noah’s wife, with Julianne Moore and Jennifer Connelly both reportedly in contention.
But it would seem that Noah faces more of a challenge in this film than just the sort of downpour that would put the UK’s recent weather to shame. Aronofsky has been running down a list of likely villains, with Val Kilmer, Liev Schreiber and Liam Neeson all considered. But it would seem that Winstone has won out as someone who can truly challenge Crowe physically.
Noah will start shooting in August and has set a release date of March 28, 2014.[[Poll678]]
