Ray Liotta Set For Cogan's Trade

Ray Liotta has been in a few dodgy films recently. And while he continues to turn up the odd gem (like his part in the underrated Youth in Revolt), he’s largely been sidelined. So you can understand that we’re happy to hear he’s landed a part in Andrew Dominik’s Cogan’s Trade.

Dominik’s adaptation of the George V. Higgins comic crime novel is quickly gathering the sort of cast that has us ready to line up on opening day.

Brad Pitt’s in the lead as the mob enforcer ordered to investigate a robbery at a high-stakes, Mafia-protected poker game, with Sam Rockwell, James Gandolfini, Richard Jenkins and Bella Heathcote. And though he’s been rumoured before, the Hollywood Reporter’s casual mention of Casey Affleck gives us hope that he’s joining up for his Assassination of Jesse James director’s new project.

Liotta has signed on to play Mark "Markie" Trattman, the hustler in charge of the card game in question, who finds his life getting even more dangerous than usual after the robbery and its aftermath.

The likes of Javier Bardem and Mark Ruffalo have also been rumoured for the cast, but there’s no definite confirmation that either man is actually on board.

Dominik will be kicking off the shoot later this month in New Orleans and the film will arrive next year. It can’t get here quick enough…
