You know, summer wouldn't be the same if they didn't spend it casting Christmas dramas. What better time of year, after all, to think about holly, ivy, mistletoe and wine than when the sun's out and everyone's desperately tanning in the 5 minutes before it goes in again. So it's with that in spirit that we bring you today's news that Ray Liotta is joining the cast of Powder Blue, a Christmas-set drama.
Liotta will play an ex-con, released after a 25 year sentence, who tries to reconnect with his daughter (Jessica Biel) on Christmas Eve. Forest Whitaker plays the third of four troubled people whose lives intersect that day, but we don't know yet who number four is.
It's all being directed by Timothy Linh Bui, the Vietnamese director behind Sundance 2001 nominee Green Dragon, based on a script that he's written. Let's hope it turns out well - after Wild Hogs, though, anything will make Liotta look good by comparison.
