Excited about Mel Gibson’s new epic Apocalypto. Want to see it as soon as possible? Bad news – you’ll have to be patient.
Disney is shifting the release of the film from late summer into a December 8 slot in the States. Unless it’s a day-and-date release, that means we likely won’t see it until January.
The reason for the shift is a little tough to discern – the company claims it’s so that Apocalypto can find an audience away from the crowded summer marketplace and so that a word of mouth campaign can kick in – looks like it’s being positioned as a possible Oscar contender. But the Associated Press reports that the film has been delayed in production thanks to heavy rains in Mexico.
