Even as he puts the finishing touches to his latest film project, The Raid director Gareth Evans has his eye on something else to work on. This time, he'll head for TV screens, as he's created an expansive, expensive new drama currently called Gangs Of London for US channel Cinemax and the UK's Sky.

Evans dreamt up the idea alongside regular collaborator and cinematographer Matt Flannery, and he's looking to shoot it next year for a 2019 launch. Gangs Of London will be set in the present day and, as you might suspect will see the city torn apart by power struggles between different international gangs. When the head of one such gang is assassinated, the authority void threatens a fragile peace between the underworld groups.

The main duo have rounded up Peter Berry, Clare Wilson and Joe Murtagh to share script duties and Evans has high hopes for the series. “It has been a thrilling experience to leap into long-form storytelling, exploring a multicultural world of global crime as it intersects on the streets of London,” he said in a statement.

As for his new film, Apostle stars Dan Stevens and should be on screens via Netflix next year. He's also been mulling the chance to join the DCEU with a Deathstroke film.
